Here comes PINTEREST! Your Social Media Scrapbook. Take pictures any which way you want or upload pictures you already have onto your different boards online, all neatly organized, never to be cluttered again! Remember, it goes far beyond saving images, use it to share events, products, tours, anything you can think of.
Here are some tips about how to get the most out of your Pinterest boards.
Create your profile: A profile tells the story about you or your business, so when you choose a picture for you or your business, make sure it expresses exactly who you are and if it can, what you are about. Also add a description that is not too long, but makes the people that visit your pin board, stay a little longer.
Create boards with a specific topic: If you are a tour operator, you will create a boards under the following topics perhaps: This is me, Cape Town Tours, Garden Route Tours, What we love in Cape Town, In and around South Africa. People like to be drawn in with beautiful pictures so make sure you capture something special every time you go on a tour, something other people will appreciate. Add the description of each board explaining what the topic is about.
Kid Friendly Holiday
Special holiday celebrations: Sticking with tours, if you know the holiday season is coming up, make boards about kid friendly places to visit or shopping malls to buy gifts at while on holiday or night markets, anything that interests the reader that goes along with holiday, tours and accommodation.
Be true to yourself: If your company is local and lekker, make sure you make a board about your unique culture. The worst thing is that you pretend to be somebody online that you are not. People can very quickly pick up when someone is trying to hard not to be themselves.
Share your beliefs and values: If your business is part of a particular group or association, be sure to add that to your boards. Perhaps you have done charity work then create a board for that particular event. Show people that you care. It makes them care about you.
A collection of Pinterest boards
Descriptions, descriptions, descriptions: I cannot stress this enough, this is the reason you have Pinterest – so that people searching for your keywords, can find your board which then links back to your website. Boom! Add your most popular keywords into your descriptions naturally. Do not write like a robot, you are not a robot, you are a human being, write like you talk. People love that.
Weekly Specials: We all have specials on our websites, why not make a board about it on your Pinterest profile? It is great to have a weekly special board as this will make people return to your board on a weekly basis.
Link to your website: Don’t forget, when you pin something, be sure that it links to your website. This will help people to take action on your pins.
Ask questions: If you don’t ask, you don’t receive… Do you want to know what people think of your pin? Just ask them. I have learned you can even ask a question on your Facebook page and pin the responses to a “Questions&Answers” board on Pinterest.
I hope these tips inspire you to start your own Pinterest boards. It is really fun and great for the online marketing of your company.
